Partner + curator at Amor Eterno Arte Amy George Cortez.
I am a curator and artist born and raised in Alameda. I am privileged to have worked in galleries and museums in the Bay Area for 20+ years.
I started out at non profit gallery and artist studio space, Red Ink Studios. Working with Red Ink taught me the importance of uplifting emerging and self taught artists. It is very difficult to live in the Bay Area as a full time artist. Most of the artists I work with in the gallery are working full time jobs while still creating art …as teachers, community organizers, parents or blue collar workers. My goal is always to provide artists with clear, open communication, empathy and a chance present their work professionally to our community. Unfortunately these things are seldom provided to self taught artists despite their importance as culture keepers. I am grateful for the relationships created with our arists at Amor Eterno Arte.
Between art shows, we host community + cultural celebrations, youth workshops and printmaking as resistance. We offer our space for free or low cost for local grassroots organizations to fund raise + spread the word. Amor Eterno Arte was started by local artists, Amy George Cortez and Chamuco Cortez.
